0731454139526. New condition. CD. 1999 and 2000 found MTV branching out into film-making and not surprisingly its films were very youth-oriented. One of those made-for-MTV movies was Jailbait! a dark comedy starring Kevin Mundy as an 18-year-old high school senior who faces statutory rape charges after having consensual sex with an underage sophomore (played by Alycia Purrot). A youth-driven film calls for a youth-driven soundtrack which is why late 1990s/year 2000 alternative rock dominates this generally decent occasional excellent collection. Except for Voice V s When U Think About Me the soundtrack has no urban contemporary or dance-pop; this CD is primarily for rockers although it doesn t focus on any one style of alternative rock exclusively. Jailbait! starts out on a punk-pop note with Fenix TX s All My Fault and Blink- 182 s Dumpweed before getting into everything from Creed s reflective ballad Waiting for a Dime and Rob Zombie s twisted How to Make a Monster to the forceful rap-rock of Methods of Mayhem s Who the Hell Cares and Fat s Whatever. One of the most fun selections is Bif Naked s Twitch an insanely infectious gem that will appeal to any listeners who like their power pop trashy and decadent. Jailbait! is hardly the last word on alternative rock in the late 1990s and the year 2000 but it has more plusses than minuses and is generally enjoyable whether or not you ve seen the movie. ~ Alex Henderson Rovi
