The Chordettes formed as a female vocal group in 1946 and originally recorded as a barbershop quartet for Columbia. Archie Bleyer the group s music director signed them to his Cadence record label with the result being the group s first big hit Mr. Sandman in 1954. Other top hits followed including Eddie My Love Born To Be With You and the #2 hit Lollipop.
