There are two types of replacement mirrors—snap-on and stick-on. This will help you determine whether the backing plate behind the glass needs to come out as well. Step 2: Remove Old Mirror Glass If your replacement glass is a snap-on unit you ll remove the old backing plate—and whatever bits of glass are left attached to it as a whole. If your replacement glass is a glued mirror you need to remove as much of the old glass as possible so that you can attach the new mirror to the backing plate using double-sided tape or silicone. Step 3: Attach New Mirror If you re replacing a stick-on mirror you need to paste the mirror on the back panel. If your replacement glass is a snap-on unit Reattach any wires you detached to the new unit and snap it into place. Step 4: Clean Up Clean your installed mirror replacement with glass cleaner.
