Electrical Tape is primarily used for identifying motor leads phases and pipelines. However 3M red vinyl color coding tape can also be used to designate safety areas and provide boundary indications. The adhesive is made of a rubber resin material and the backing is polyvinyl chloride or more commonly known as PVC. The tape’s elastic PVC material is flexible but has a breaking strength of 17 pounds per inch making it strong enough for tough applications. The rubber resin material is an extremely durable synthetic polymer with strong adhesive properties that do not change relative to fluctuating temperatures. The vinyl tape can withstand a range of temperatures from 32 to 220 degrees Fahrenheit or 0 to 105 degree Celsius. It also serves as an electrical insulator and is resistant to moisture corrosion and abrasion caused by acids and other harsh chemicals. One roll contains 20 feet of red vinyl tape that measures 1/2 inches wide and seven milli-inches thick.
