Ortho® Orthene® Fire Ant Killer1 kills the queen and destroys the mound. You will see results in just sixty minutes. For best results apply when ants are active or when new mounds appear. Try not to disturb the mounds while treating. No need to water-in! Applications are not to be made during heavy dew or just before a rain. Ortho® Orthene® Fire Ant Killer1 can be used in home lawns and around ornamental plants (including flowers trees and shrubs). Sprinkle dry powder over each mound referring to the package label for the amount to use. This product can be used along with Ortho® Fire Ant Killer Broadcast Granules as part of the Ortho Fire Ant 2-Step Program. Ortho® Orthene® Fire Ant Killer1 treats up to 162 mounds. Note that applications made under prolonged hot and dry conditions may be ineffective due to the location of ants deep in the nest.
